2 Things Your Child Can Learn at a Child Care Centre

Posted on: 9 August 2022

When most parents think about child care, the first thing that comes to mind is finding a safe and reliable place for their children while they're at work. However, enrolling your child in a quality child care centre has many other benefits. Here are two things your child can learn while attending an early learning program at a child care centre.

Cognitive Skills

Cognitive skills are important for your child to develop because they help them to think critically, solve problems, and remember information.

Among the most important cognitive skills is executive function. This aspect includes the ability to plan, organize, and remember information. Early learning programs can help children develop these skills by providing structure and routine.

Children learn how to follow directions and complete tasks through circle time, storytime and arts and crafts. They also learn how to share materials and take turns with other children.

Another important cognitive skill is critical thinking. This aspect involves the ability to think flexibly and solve problems. Early childhood education programs provide opportunities for children to practice these skills through hands-on learning experiences.

For example, children might build towers out of blocks or sort objects by colour. As they engage in these activities, they learn how to assess situations, identify problems and come up with solutions. Early childhood education programs promote cognitive development and provide your child with a strong foundation for lifelong success.

Discipline

Early childhood is a critical time for learning and development. Enrolling your child in an early learning program at a child care centre can help them develop the skills they need to succeed in school. One important skill that your child can learn in an early learning program is discipline.

Child care professionals can teach your child to follow the rules and behave appropriately. They can provide structure and routine, which can help children to feel safe and secure. By setting boundaries and limits, children can learn to understand what is expected of them.

This strategy can help them avoid disruptive behaviours. It can also teach them how to resolve conflicts peacefully. Ultimately, early learning programs can instil a sense of discipline in your child. This skill could help your child better understand the world around them and how to function within it.

An early learning program at a child care centre can provide your child with many benefits. From cognitive skills to discipline, your child can learn valuable lessons that will help set them in the right direction for lifelong success. With so much to gain, enrolling your child in an early learning program is a great decision for parents who want to give their child a head start.

Child care after school

In some ways, it gets even harder to find child care for your kids when they start school. Not many jobs allow you to do school pick-ups and drop-offs each day and my job definitely requires more time in the office than that. Many parents find innovative solutions to make it all work, but other parents seem to really struggle with finding a great solution that works for them and the kids. That's why I thought I'd start a blog where parents and child care gurus could swap tips on the best ways to organise child care for school aged children.
